David's Bridal (Greenfield, WI and Eau Claire, WI) - B and D-
Wedding dress, MOB dress, and FG dress
Greenfield - B:
I had to experiences with DB one was to test dresses with my mom and one for my mom to pick a dress. The woman helping me try on the dresses I picked was extremely helpful - I never felt rushed. Although some dresses were similar she pulled them and showed what was the same or different and if I didn't like a style she mentioned which ones I might want to nix.
I ended up being stuck between two dresses and the staff (at this point I had the manager and the alterations manager) helping me look between the two. I walked in not wanting to buy a dress that day, but I did. That is just me when I know what I like I am done and it wasn’t because I felt pressured I just had my mind made up so no more searching.
When we went back to look at dresses for my mom the girl helping us was also extremely helpful. I told her right off the bat NO mother of the bride dresses they were not my mom’s style and she completely agreed and geared us towards the bridesmaid dress styles.
My mom had a few dresses she wanted to try that were ok…the girl ended up pulling a dress that my mom LOVED. She also gave my mom some suggestions on colors if she wasn’t sure what would go with my wedding colors. I was so happy she listened to me and to my mom it made the shopping experience so much easier – 5 dresses were tried on and my mom felt gorgeous with the one she picked…mission accomplished!
Eau Claire – D-
Where to begin this train wreck of visit? We made a girls weekend to go with my flower girl and her mother to check out the dress I was thinking of having the FG wear. We were on time for our appointment and were forced to wait. When we were tended to the clerk acted like she had better things to do which was extremely annoying when she ditched us to help a walk in appointment look for veils and we had a scheduled appointment.
We had to hunt down our saleslady several times. I had asked the question at the beginning of our appointment if the dress I liked would fit a size 2 and a size 8 in kids….she threw my flower girl in the dress without answering my question. Thankfully it did come in the sizes that fit both (the website didn’t have that detail) because the girl she put it in was obsessed with the dress. After 15 min of waiting we interrupted her walk in appointment to have her double check the fit of the dress on my flower girl…she said it would fit and disappeared again. (My fg mom put her in the dress the clerk handed to her and then the clerk vanished.)
The three of us went to the register to try and check out – this took us another 20 minutes because the woman helping us bailed so we had to wait for someone at the register to help us order the dress and check out. That is when I found out that dress would take 8 weeks to deliver (so they say) – NO ONE at DB contacted me. That meant ordering that day the dress was due in the day before the wedding…yeah slightly stressed me out! Thankfully DB delivers early but that goes to show you even with an open order and several calls to follow up on lead time – it changes and there is no good way for DB to communicate with brides.

Men's Warehouse (Greenfield, WI and Green Bay, WI) - A- and B+
Men's tuxes
Greenfield – A-
My dad went to the Men’s Warehouse in Greenfield to get fitted – he said the appointment was a breeze meaning he got in, got measured, and got out. That was a big plus and they fixed his name and relationship in the computer when he stopped in. When I went with my dad to pick up the tux again things were very smooth. My dad hates to wait, dislikes dressing up, and can get easily frustrated...so this was a big plus. The only issue I had is the tuxes were supposed to come with suspenders and none of them did…guess this falls on the shoulders of order fulfillment? It was showing on my end the guys would have them...thankfully it all worked out in the end.
Green Bay - B+
I think on another day it maybe would have been better. The guys and I went to pick up their tuxes all together and we were there first thing in the morning – in part because the guys were going to the Packer opening game and wanted to ensure they had time to have fun. Well they were severely understaffed. I think a lot of people went on Thursday to pick up (even though it was Packer’s game day) for the crazy 9-10-11 wedding date. One guy working the register, and a woman pulling tuxes and that was it.
For the few tuxes that were there they were checked and everything was there. The bestman’s tux was shipped in but hadn’t been received in so we were forced to wait a bit while other people coming in were tended too before they could receive in his tux and he could try it. I do understand that part of the store was under renovation and they were understaffed. The woman who was running around like mad was pleasant when she was engaging with us which was nice.
The other thing that stunk was I put a deposit down for the tuxes to hold the price at a bridal expo. My credit union changes the last number of the card when they send a new one…so I couldn’t get my deposit back. They have to swipe the card and it was the bank card I had used but a new card had been issued since the last number did not match due to their system we were forced to take a $10 credit as in store credit….and none of the guys that had to pay yet could use it. Fail.

Savoye (Green Bay, WI) - A
BP hair and Bride's hair and makeup
Well let me say first impressions are definitely are something I keep in mind. I called a few salons in one day and honestly Savoye was the only one that made me feel like I was important. Rose is a wonderful receptionist and answered all my questions. Even more importantly I mentioned casually when I might be in the area to stop in and fill out the form…I was greeted by name when I stopped in to ask if I could fill out the form. This was a month and a half later! Even my now husband was impressed.
Sure they may not be a full bells and whistles with a private “bridal suite” but we were not getting dressed at the salon anyway. Other salons like Elements (who put me on hold 4 times before they could tell me if the date was even available) or Haven who told me they “might be able to fit me in,” where Savoye definitely did everything to make me and my bridal party feel like VIPs up to and on wedding day.
They are an Aveda salon so I ended up providing my own makeup for them to apply since I did a trial with the mineral makeup and it didn’t hold up too well…it looked great but I needed something that would last just about all day. My makeup and hair were amazing in fact so many people complimented my hair and how blue my eyes were. The bridesmaids loved their hair, the flowergirls felt like princesses it was a great experience and wonderful to start the wedding day off there with mimosas and goodies.

Rock Garden (Green Bay, WI) - B
Reception
This is a tough one – there are lots of people involved here some are fantastic and others not so much.
Debi who is the main point of contact is lacking…it took her forever to reply with history and she often tried pinning the ILs against me which was not cool. I don’t care WHAT she told them I went by what was IN WRITING. We had the hall booked for over a year and I met her for the first time the Thursday before the wedding…which for some can be pretty unnerving considering I had set up appointments when she said “see you then,” “see you Friday,” etc.
Aaron was always great. He is the one that took us through the halls and on the many appointments I set up with Debi where she didn’t show Aaron picked up the slack. We sat down with him on several occasions and he left me feeling good about the wedding, the plans, etc. He also was wonderful on our second to last sit down where we tried to iron out as many details as possible.
Our manager for the evening (sorry I do not remember his name) was also very good. He hunted me down and introduced himself and checked in with me periodically. His staff worked like clockwork – we did not hear one single complaint. Our wedding was served family style and every table received everything within minutes of one another so no table was left waiting.
The only minor complaint is that they cleared the tables almost too good. A lot of people wanted to keep the envelope with picture and photoshare card but those were tossed as they were cleaning the tables off. No big deal I put them in the thank you cards as well…but they do run a very efficient staff.
The food, the staff, the venue - everything we received so many compliments on so I would say all and all a success with the exception of interactions with Debi that pulled down my rating a tad.

All Dressed Up Event Planning (Neenah, WI) - A+
Day of Coordinator
Alright Jami was a complete help and I do not doubt hiring her at all. I know at first my mom and the ILs were skeptical but I told them I would save money elsewhere in the budget to pay for her services. I did not want anyone to “work” at my wedding as far as set up and clean up if it wasn’t necessary. And honestly they still helped Jami clean up, but it was nice having the moms at the salon relaxing and not needing to worry about deliveries or setting up or anything else.
Jami sent me a full list of things she would be responsible for and some of the things I honestly would not have realized. It was a huge help with her getting all our personal items from the church to the reception hall….having the church and reception hall all decorated for us. I could sit back and enjoy the day.
She also was very accessible in the planning process. I was a Type A DIY bride so every so often she would zip an email letting me know she was on vacation or to check up if I needed anything, and when I did need to pick her brain she was there with suggestions. I highly recommend Jami…and she does travel to cover weddings.

Rehearsal Dinner
Well we really wanted a fish fry for our rehearsal dinner but apparently that was not an option – my ILs really tried to find a place so we skipped that idea. On a visit to GB we ended up going here to lunch to see if we liked the food and if so to check out the option of having the rehearsal dinner there.
The food was great some traditional some not so traditional. We inquired about the room and they took us to see the room and someone sat down with us to go over the options despite not having an appointment and just asking on a whim. There is a fee for booking their private room (which holds 50 people), but it does have a private bar, and entrance. We liked it so we booked it on the spot.
They did allow us to make amendments to the options they have so we swapped out a chicken entrée for baked cod keeping the pasta primavera and sirloin steak options. The other thing they allowed us to do is get an artichoke dip appetizer…HIGHLY recommend this. It had a bit of spice to it but all our guests kept commenting on how great it was. This was not on the banquet menu, it was however on the regular menu so they allowed us to do this.
The food was great, and again the wait staff, and bartenders were wonderful. I loved the private entrance and we never felt rushed to get out or anything. The grooms cake was displayed beautifully and they had a few extra tables set up how we asked (for gifts, guest book, groom’s cake).

Groom's Cake
Alright no logo here because you have to see the work they did on the groom’s cake. My husband was absolutely thrilled. We did a taste test with Lindsay to determine who would do our wedding cake. I am not a huge fan of buttercream but with costs involved we decided on buttercream instead of fondant.
She has a great pink champagne cake, and the amaretto was also amazing. We also tried the intense chocolate but it was pretty intense! Lindsay was a front runner for our wedding cake most definitely. During our meeting Lindsay was great – she was excited was doodling up ideas and left us with a pretty good idea of cost. We didn’t book anything at the time as this was the first cake tasting appointment we had and several others were planned that weekend.
While we had someone else do the wedding cake I know my husband really really liked the amaretto cake at Runaway Spoon so we decided to split the difference and have them do his groom’s cake. I emailed some ideas (and there was a little delay) but got a mock up back via email and the cake looked just like it! Our wedding party and rehearsal dinner attendees were astonished by the cake – it was as good as it looked and the look on my husband’s face was priceless!

Wedding Cake
Where to begin…I know several knotties heard me say that from the taste test I had dreams about my cake - I wasn’t joking! This was our second last taste test and I was alright with some of the places, again, I am not a big buttercream girl but I knew I could scrape off the frosting. Then we got here. I didn’t even get to try the first flavor and my husband was three flavors in with no sign of slowing down! (Other places I had to beg him to try something…not here).
We sat down and went over the details with Jennifer she gave us tips and hints to help offset the cost, make sure we had even flavors (as we wanted that), design…everything. She drew on the spot the scroll design that would be on the cake and had all the details down – including my zombies, which she got a kick out of. Best of all she came in under budget of several other places that were “ho hum” for cakes. We took some samples to our parents and my dad who also isn’t a big cake person was thrilled about this cake which was also rare (but in a good way). The buttercream is very light and not super sugary since it is more of a European style.
Our cake was three flavors:
Triple Vanilla Crème Brûleé
Yellow Cake soaked in Caramel Bailey's and vanilla with a vanilla bavarian buttercream and, covered in vanilla buttercream
White Chocolate Raspberry
White cake soaked in Chambord, White chocolate ganache, Raspberry buttercream
Java Explosion
Chocolate cake soaked in Espresso, Chocolate gaanche, Espresso buttercream
I HIGHLY encourage Monzu cakes. In fact we are in the habit of stopping in to grab some cake when we are in the area, not that I am complaining.

Flowers
Ok I was NOT excited about flowers when it came to the wedding planning. By a fluke I ran into JFF at a wedding expo and I hit it off with Mindy and Linda. Within 5 minutes we were finishing each other’s sentences and the got me excited about my flowers – if they weren’t they sure seemed more excited about my wedding than I was.
I did do a few visits to florists in Green Bay and set up an appointment with JFF as well. They came in under many of the Green Bay florists by a few hundred dollars (even with delivery fee), they were willing to work with me on flowers I wanted, they showed me pictures of the flowers I would be getting, and they just listened to me.
JFF also has these nice wire cuff bracelets for corsages that the moms got. After the wedding they could cut the wire holding the flowers onto the bracelet and still have the bracelet to remember the day long after the flowers died.
Price, service, and quality – they have it all. I have already suggested them to a few of my friends that have gotten engaged since I know they will not be disappointed. In fact many of the pictures that have my flowers in them – the flowers capture the picture. Thank you Mindy and Linda for giving me the bright, bold, saturated flowers I wanted they were STUNNING!

Photographer
Kim…I.love.Kim.
She had shot my brothers wedding and I adored his photos, and I have stalked her on Facebook since then. Kim is an award winning photographer who has more of the photo journalistic style. When I got engaged I pretty much knew she had to shoot my wedding too. I love her quirky personality – if anyone contacts her and reads her FAQs you will know exactly what I am talking about.
I did scout out other photographers, get other quotes, and even asked my husband’s cousin who also is a great photographer (doesn’t shoot family functions) who he would hire, and he scouted websites, and blogs not knowing who I was favoring and he agreed KB Image. DEAL! It also didn’t hurt that Kim was actually a tad less than a few other photographers we priced in Green Bay as well.
My lack of confidence and my husband’s hatred for posing for pictures was brought up to Kim. We gave her samples of our engagement photos we had shot with a photographer in Columbus that left us feeling “meh.” Not terrible not fantastic so she had an idea of what we liked and didn’t. We met the month prior to the wedding to go over details we wanted captured and the list of formals so we could zip through them.
The teaser we got left us dying for more pictures. I know it’s not all Kim (cue hair and makeup) but the pictures she captured I look absolutely stunning which is a huge confidence boost and my husband is happy with how he looks as well. She made the pictures fun and held up to her “ninja” persona – there are pictures I have no clue she captured but am sure glad she did!

Airbrush Tan
This was a vendor I did ask my DOC about - who does she know that does airbrush tanning. Well she suggested this woman Lori (I could have the name wrong) and I got in touch with her and scheduled. I was a tad nervous but I was given very good instructions and tips on the phone prior to the appointment. I learned she also travels to the athletic club to do tans and other places so it's not something she just does on occasion.
She does on the site airbrushing but I just ran to her house to get out of the hotel for a bit. In her basement she does have a complete set up...and yes I thought it would be awkward standing topless in front of her but honestly it was not bad. I got SO MANY compliments on my tan from those that tan all the time, people who see me all the time, and those that don't. One uncle was asking how much I have been working out because I looked so toned and good....sweet!
I did learn after the fact that she also does to makeup - so this could be an option for someone looking for a makeup artist that will travel.
Phone: (920) 585-2926
She also is on Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/pages/On-The-Glo-Mobile-Spray-Tanning/136493499720297?v=info
